Draft interview

Here is an interview that myself and my group did in order to start getting ideas for when we start filming for our final piece. We wanted to see which type of shots would be affective for our style of documentary. We decided to add music into our clip becuase we thought it would make the audience sympathise with the characters who have lost their brother.

The shots that we use in this clip are similar to the ones that we plan on using in our final documentary, with typical shots such as the interviewees not being in the centre of the shot, and a panning shot to set the scene will be used frequently in our documentary.

Research- Survivor stories

http://www.duipictures.com/dstory.htm
This website is dedicated to survivors from car incidents due to Drink Driving. By reading stories like these, even though they are from the America, you can tell how much their lives have been devasted due to other people drink driving. Most of the stories are how the writers survived an accident, but the stories vary from someone who caused an accident, or how someones loved one caused an accident.
Reading stories like these really put into perspective how cautious you should be whilst being on the road, even though our documentary is to do with Teen Driving, Drunk Driving is very relavant with teens.
In our documentary we are thinking about putting in witness stories to add a sympathetic affect to our final piece.

Research- documentary reviews

http://www.thedocumentaryblog.com/
Here is a webiste that is decicated to documentary reviews. The styles on this websites are all mostly realy life documentaries, filming people in their extraordinary lives. Some titles include Grizzly Man, The Staircase, The smashing machine and many more.
This website is useful for my supporting peice, because i can see how people lay out a documentary review, what style of writing they use and the tone of the review.
This is website is also useful as well as having reviews they also have trailers for the documentary, so i can see what type of shots and editing techniques they use.

Interview- Jon Snow

During the period before filming, we are always on the lookout for ideas to put into our documentary. One member of our group isin contact with channel 4 news reader Jon Snow, and he has kindly agreed to do an interview with us. We will ask him a range of question varying from his personal opinion of teenage driving, how many stories he reads that is to do with teenage driving, if he has been personally affected from any reckless teen driving.
We plan on doing a typical documentary style interview, with things such as only hearing the interviewers voice, the interviewee won't be in the centre of the frame he'll be either side of the shot.

Supporting Pieces

We have to do 3 supporting pieces.
For our group piece we will be doing either a radio jingle or a tv advert.
For my own pieces I will be doing a documentary review and a magazine interview. The basic plot for the documentary review will be someone reviewing the documentary that they have already watched. To try and make this realistic i will also talk about the negatives as wll as the postitives from our documentary.
For the magazine interview i will ask a range of different questions, from personal ones, to filming techniques used in the final documentary.
