Editing our final documentary
As we have finished all of our filming, in our last lessons we have been editing all of our footage together and putting it in the final order. As we have lots of statistics of car crashes in our film, we have had some trouble ordering them because we have so many. By putting them altogether it would be too much for the viewer. So we are trying to place them carefully so that it won't be too much for the viewer. To make sure that our documentary is easy viewing for our audience, we are trying different ways to order it to see which way flows better. We discussed in length what sections of our documentary worked together, and what didn't. In detail we discussed specific sections such as our interviews. We felt that although we already 4 interviews we needed another one to give us the response we felt we needed on teenage driving.

Interview- Blog styled
For our fourth interview, we decided to use a different technique of filming. As we are using the Apple Macs for our editing we thought that using the built in camera on the macs would be a different style of filming, and one that we haven't used before. Using this different techqinue of filming gives us a completely different angle and view point from the interviewee from the typical filming techniques we normally use. The interviewee talks about how one of her friends died in a car crash, and the effect it's had on her driving.

Research- Driving Adverts
To get some more ideas for our final piece we are all doing individual reaserch into car crashes, here are some very effective adverts and clips I have found on the internet-
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a8QxZJZfU5Q
These are some of the most shocking driving adverts that i have seen, with the use of the emotional music some of these clips really tug at the heart strings. Even though we are not aiming to upset the audience purposfully, we are going to include such clips and adverts to make the audience feel more emotion towards our documentary. One of the editing techniques which was common in most of the adverts is the use of slow motion, this technique is very effective in focusing on certain things which are happening all at the same time. This technique would be very useful in our documentary.

Second interview
Our original plans to interview Jon Snow did not go to plan. So instead we came up with a back up plan, to create another interview but this time with the point of view from a dirivng instructor and their personal opinion of teenage driving. Because we didn't have much time to come up with this interview, we asked one of our teachers if they would mind answering some questions on teenage driving. We used a normal camera with a tripod so that we got steady shots, we also used the typical documentary techniques, such as having the intervieee bot in the centre of the shot but on the right side of the frame. Instead of reading the questions out, we gave our interviewee a piece of paper witht the questions on it. Our interviewee gave some detailed answers, but we felt that sometimes she didn't answer the question we were asking her. So we felt that maybe we needed to construct another interview which we could possibly control the answers we would be given.
Texting whilst driving video

Whilst researching different videos we came across this video which gives helps us figure out how to set up our video. This video is quite similar to how we want to edit and produce our documentary. Although in our final piece, it won't just be one storyline all the way through, we are thinking of adding some clips such as this one into our documentary to add a more emotional affect. With the effective use of editing, sounds this video certainly shocks people. The use of effective shots and angles gets the audience emotionally involved in the scene. When this clip first came out some people were against this video, saying that it was far too realistic and shocking to show people, however other viewers said that having shocking videos is a good way to educate some people. The aim for our final documentary is to educate and to shock our veiwers, we want to raise the issue of teenage driving and the consiquences of some peoples actions.
